A day-long online movement extravaganza to raise money to support mental health for Black people and People of Colour in the UK.

A day festival of fabulous movement and other modalities to choose from - Dance, Nia Technique, Yoga, Sound-bath, African Drumming and Dance, Meditation, Gentle Movement and more. So come along and improve your well-being (physical and mental) at one or more (or all!!) of the gorgeous offerings.

Free for people identifying as Black or People of Colour. Others pay what you can through donations (from £1). 

Sessions suitable for all abilities and no prior experience needed.

Not open to USA or Canadian based people (for insurance reasons).

Gelara Satari - Moving to Heal - 9 a.m.

A movement journey to self-mastery, self-healing and Joy, Nia combines martial, dance and healing arts. Nia is done barefoot and set to diverse music from around the world.

Gelara teaches regular Nia classes in New Malden and is currently enjoying teaching in a local park.

Susan Rees - Cell-ebrate Nia - !0 a.m.

When we dance the Nia routine Cell-ebrate we are celebrating life itself. Celebrate you, your breath, your bones, your form and your freedome. Bring fun, volume, resonance and space to your cellular system. 

I love Nia......the music, the people, the freedom in the body. After ten years of teaching music and movement to kids, I have now been teaching Nia for five years and I am so happy I&#x27;ve now found a place to share the joy, the fun and the magic of moves that feel good to glorious music -- with &#x27;grown ups&#x27; - of all ages and abilities -- its Nia. 

If you feel you are uncoordinated or can&#x27;t dance, that&#x27;s exactly how I felt. Come do Nia with me - I will support you and encourage you and do my very best to help you enjoy the class. I love the fact that Nia is done barefoot which has been a revolution for my body (but,at the same time, if you prefer to keep your shoes on then that&#x27;s OK too!) The most fundamental goal of Nia is joy -- no pressure, just come along and move with me!

Jen Johnson - Grateful &amp; Joyous Nia - 11 a.m.

Jen says - Join me for a fusion of the Nia Grateful and Joy routines. The focus will be on our relationship with our imagination as we create images to enhance our physical sensation. 

Step in with me and experience the joy of movement and sense gratitude through dance. 

Nia dance is my passion and to be able to share Nia with others is a total joy and honour. I run regular Zoom classes and occasional live participatory classes.

Nick Jerome - Shake Awake and Connect - !2 noon

This session starts with a shaking ritual, to awaken your energy.
You will then be led through a series of connection and communication activities to allow you to connect with your heart chakra and bring some love and connection into your day.

Nick is a Coach and Tantric practitioner and workshop facilitator, based in London. For his MA in Coaching, he focused his dissertation on Tantric Coaching, and will use some of the techniques he developed in this short workshop.

Kim Loliya &amp; Natalie Armitage - Race, Racism and Mental Health Q&amp;A - 1 p.m.

Kim Loliya is an integrative therapist, facilitator and trainer working with individuals, couples and groups with a particular interest in supporting black people and people of colour and indigenous people with their mental health and wellbeing. Kim&#x27;s interests include grief, relationships, managing stress and working with sexual shame.

Natalie Armitage - see below. 


Natalie Armitage - Gentle Hatha Yoga and Pranayama - 2 p.m.

Natalie says - I aim to make my classes a safe space, where people feel comfortable to arrive as their full selves and show any range of emotion they might have that day. We grow through the unknown, with breath always in our control.

Natalie is a Hatha trained Yoga Teacher, specialising in Pranayama, having been certified in Rishikesh, India.
Currently nursing a broken arm, Natalie will be guiding your movements with her words in this class.

Souleymane Compo - African Drumming and Body Percussion - 3 p.m. 

Bring your bodies (and your drums if you have them) to join Souleymane for an exploration of West African rhythms (no experience needed, no drums needed!).

Souleymane Compo teaches and performs with Wuntanara (which means &#x27;we are together&#x27;) which provides African drumming and dance workshops in schools, as well as regular classes and workshops for adults. Wuntanara organises African drumming and dance holidays in West Africa, as well as exhilarating live performances and community, corporate and private events.

Fiona Winter - Music, Movement &amp; Magic as Medicine for Every Body - 4 p.m.

&#x27;Grace&#x27; is an elegantly crafted piece of movement medicine, designed to take you willingly into a state of grace, of effortless, uplifting joyous movement. The routine uses the music of Siri Sadhana Kaur www.sirisadhana.com whose inspirational, rich and passionate voice creates music medicine that speaks directly to the soul and gets your cells humming.

Fiona invites people of all ages and fitness levels to get in touch with fun, play and pleasure when they move. She has been practising her craft for nearly 40 years, and brings her knowledge and experience to create accessible movement experiences.

Katharina Tarmann - Canta Nia - 5 p.m.

Katharina says - I took my first NIA class in 2009. It was a life changing event . I have worked in the field of fitness most of my life giving Areobics and Water work out classes and as HealthTrainer for people with medical conditions and disabilities. I always felt that the NO PAIN NO GAIN approach to fitness just didn&#x27;t inspire many people. A more gentle, compassionate approach to the body and mind was needed by a lot of my clients. Then a very good friend invited me to check out this new fusion fitness class called NIA . That class was awesome ! So much fun and it moved my whole body .Even my jaws and fingers. Our instructor Dorit was vibrant and joyful, but what really got me hooked was when Dorit turned to me in class as I was struggling to keep up with the moves. and said &quot;Dont try to get it right ! Do it wrong ! Do it your way! After that class me and my friend ran to Dorit to ask her how can we train to become NIA instructors. A month later we did the White Belt Training with Helen Terry.This was the beginning of an exciting Journey into Music,Movement and Magic...and much more.

Salif Camara - West African Dance - 6 p.m

Join Guinean Dance Master Salif Camara for an uplifting journey into traditional West African dance and rhythms.

Salif is a talented dancer and dance teacher, only arrived recently in the UK. He has been training in dance since the age of 12, and has danced with several acclaimed ballet troupes in Guinea, with whom he has toured around West Africa. He has extensive experience of teaching European students, both in Africa and in the UK. Since lockdown Salif has been teaching regular African dance classes via zoom, building a loyal following of students around the UK.

Jilna Shah - Meditation, Gentle Movement and Deep Rest - 7 p.m.

Jilna is inspired by the interrelationship between inner change and healing and transformative social change. This is influenced by her experiences of being part of social justice movements in the UK and in India. 

Over the past 12 years, Jilna has deepened her meditation practice within the insight meditation tradition. Movement and somatics also form an important part of her practice and teaching. She facilitates movement and meditation in community settings to create spaces for connection and collective care- for example, with refugee youth, migrant women and for elders. 

Jilna is concerned with how we can relate to the body heart-mind in a way that cultivates more care, freedom, ease and joy. She explores these qualities through practices rooted both in stillness and in movement. This session will explore meditation, gentle movement and deep rest.

Ildiko Miklos - Crystal Bowl Sound Bath - 8 p.m.

During this session you are going to experience the healing sounds of the crystal bowls. Sound healing is the therapeutic use of sound for your body, mind, emotions and spirit with the intention of bringing you into the state of harmony and health. You are listening to the sounds not only with your ears, but with your whole body. The resonance of the bowls vibrates the body&#x27;s cavities and crystals. The high water content of the body&#x27;s soft tissues helps to conduct the sound. The overall effect is likened to a deep massage at the atomic and molecular level.
Whilst listening to the crystal bowls, tuned to your seven chakras, your physical and energy body will be harmonised.

Ildiko believes in self healing through Sound, Touch and Movement.
She graduated at The College of Sound Healing UK as a Crystal Bowl and Himalayan Bowl Practitioner. She offers one to one healing sessions and group sound baths both in person and online. 
Ildiko is a Hawaiian massage practitioner and a Nia Brown Belt teacher as well.
She often finishes her Nia classes with playing on her healing instruments to provide even more potential for self healing.
