Moving Through Time: A Dance Experiment
Part-disco, part-scientific experiment, join us for a unique movement session that delves into the deeply personal nature of time.
According to physics, every person traces their own unique path through spacetime. In this unique movement experience, you’ll explore what that means on the dancefloor: speeding up, slowing down, looping, stretching and reshaping as we play with how time moves, bends and flows.
Created by artists Geraldine Cox and Emma Bellerby in collaboration with physicist Professor Mike Tarbutt from Imperial College London, this session blends scientific insight with guided dance and improvisation. From Einstein’s theory of relativity, which suggests each of us carries our own personal time, to Goethe’s poetic reflections on time’s passing, this workshop investigates how scientists and artists alike have tried to grasp something that never stands still.
Whether you’re curious about the physics of time, fascinated by creative interpretations of science, or simply want to move your body, join us to feel time a little differently!
This event is part of the Great Exhibition Road Festival on 6-7 June 2026.
The workshop takes place in a zone for people aged 18+ only. People younger than 18 will not be allowed entry into the building.
Please arrive at the venue 10 minutes before the start time. Your ticket gives you priority access, however, as this is a free event if you do not arrive 10 minutes before the start time your space may be reallocated. Early arrival reduces this risk.
