Come And Join Us To Celebrate The Winners Of The

Bristol Community Business Challenge!


Marks & Spencer and Power to Change have been travelling the country seeking out fantastic community businesses we can help with business skills support and cash grants for our Community Business Challenge.

At this free event, Bristol’s finalists will present their ideas to the M&S and Power to Change judging panel, who will decide how much funding and business skills support they could win. Come to cheer on your favourite community businesses in Bristol!

The 7 shortlisted organisations are :

APE Project CIC

St Pauls Adventure Playground is a community cultural safe space which has provided support for children, young people and families in St Pauls Bristol since the 1970s. The playground is run by Ape project CIC since Bristol City Council withdrew funding in 2017.

Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust

Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust manage a 45-acre Victorian cemetery and green space in the heart of Bristol, used by more than 200,000 people every year. Everything they do is about protecting, preserving and enhancing this important heritage site, leisure space and café.

Community In Partnership Knowle West

Community In Partnership runs Filwood Community Centre for the benefit of local people in Knowle West and south Bristol. Based in Filwood, the centre offers creative and community spaces, activities and events.

Redcatch Community Garden

Redcatch Community Garden is space for the whole community to come together, socialise, volunteer and learn about sustainability and growing fresh, healthy food.

St Werburghs City Farm

St Werburghs City Farm is a peaceful, inner-city green space accessible to all.The farm’s Propagation Place project works with volunteers to grow vegetable and herb plug plants which are sold at a discount to local allotment holders, schools and community groups.

The Ardagh Community Trust

The Ardagh Community Trust provide facilities, services, employment, work experience and volunteering opportunities at their community cafe, currently trading seasonally in an external goods yard in North Bristol.

Windmill Hill City Farm

Windmill Hill City Farm in Bedminster, is a 4.5 acre green oasis just south of central Bristol. It has an annual footfall of over 120,000 visitors and 350 volunteers keep it thriving.

The Shortlisted organisations have the chance to win a package of business skills support provided from M&S and up to £10,000 of funding per project from Power to Change. Find out more and show your support at www.communitybusinesschallenge.co.uk

There will also be a chance to speak to Power to Change about upcoming funding opportunities, to talk to the School of Social Entrepreneurs, who are the delivery partners on this project.

11.30 - 12.45 Spotlight on the shortlisted organisations.

12.45 - 14.00 Lunch break, with delicious food provided by M&S and a chance for attendees to explore the community marketplace showcasing the work of the shortlisted community businesses

14.00 - 14.30 Announcement of the successful projects and awards

14.30 - 15.00 Networking
