Event description

Description

Do you work in a museum or gallery in the UK? Do you identify as working class?

Museum as Muck is partnering with the British Museum National Programmes team to host the first Muckers' Annual General Meeting, and we warmly invite you to come along.

Museum as Muck is a network for working class museum and gallery professionals. It acts as a peer support group, a place to share experiences and frustrations, and a platform for change by making connections across the sector, sharing content and hosting conversations about working class representation in the museums and galleries workforce.

This will be the first Muckers' AGM and the aim is to bring together as many working class museum and gallery professionals as possible. We want to consult fellow Muckers about what our priorities should be and create stronger links across the UK.

You can follow Museum as Muck on Twitter, join the network via Facebook, or email museumasmuck@gmail.com to keep up to date.

This event is being hosted at the British Museum as part of the Museum's national Knowledge Share programme, generously supported by the Vivmar Foundation.

Information for attendees

This event is open to anyone working in or with museums and galleries who identifies as working class - whether you are an existing Museum as Muck member or a newcomer wishing to find out more. Tickets are free but booking is essential.

Defining class can be difficult but for the purposes of this network, working class is a catch-all term for coming from a background with low social, economic and cultural capital.

We are keen to reach a UK-wide audience so a limited number of travel bursaries are available for those who would otherwise be unable to attend. These will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to request one, please email UKPartnerships@britishmuseum.org once you have booked your ticket, letting us know why attending the event will be beneficial, and what support you need.
