Come join us at the BVFD Firehall (East side) for a hands-on mushroom dyeing workshop with the incredible Amy Crook (Vancouver Island Fibreshed)! Learn the art of transforming fungi into vibrant dyes in this interactive session. Get ready to dive into the colorful world of natural dyeing at Bamfield Fungus Festival 2025!

This class is for all skill levels, from novice to advanced dyers. In our three-hour workshop we will use Dyers Polypore (Phaeolus schweinitzii) and Lobster mushrooms (Hypomyces lactifluorum) to reveal the rainbow of color available within these fungi. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have experience working with mordants, pH modifiers and making dye vats. You’ll take home enough mushroom-dyed fiber for a small project and instructions for continuing on your own.
