Past book readings have been a wonderful opportunity for children with Selective Mutism to listen to this story and see other children with SM on the screen. Lucy normalises that everyone here finds it hard to talk sometimes. Children with SM often think that they are the only child in the world who struggles to talk in certain situations, and parents have reported children feeling relieved (and even euphoric!) after the event having seen so many other children on the screen who also find it hard to talk sometimes.

It is important to us that this event is accessible to all, so if you are unable to afford a ticket, please email hello@confidentchildren.co.uk and provided that there are spots still available, we will provide you with a ticket.

The zoom link will be emailed to all ticket holders before the event.

A few important points:

  • Tickets are non-refundable so please double check your time zone before booking (times are in UK time).
  • We must respect everyone's privacy and confidentiality so no photos or recordings are permitted.
  • By joining this event you understand that you and your child will be on the screen, along with the other parents and children, and you consent to this.
  • There won't be any need for the children to talk during the session or participate in any way, they will just listen to the story.
  • Ideally everyone's camera will be on so that the children can see other children with SM. We will mute everyone's mic so that the children feel safe that they won't be heard.
  • If your child has the book, it would be great if they had it with them during the session.
