A Collaboration for International Day of The Girl where young women in Kenya will share solutions to achieve equality for vulnerable girls.

My Voice – Our Equal Future is collaboration for International Day of The Girl 2021, between Team Kenya (UK) and Twende Pamoja (Kenya). The young women leading the collaboration have overcome insurmountable challenges by utilising the support they have received from programmes created and run by Twende Pamoja, with financial and advisory support from Team Kenya. When? 11 October at 6pm (UK time) / 8pm (Kenyan time)Join us for an inspiring evening as we hear from empowered young women as they share their stories and raise awareness for vulnerable girls in their community in Ndhiwa, a marginalised community in Kenya. Anatalia, Noven, Ruth and Vivian are looking to put the global issues facing girls in 2021 into a personal context and put forward solutions that we can all support to uplift the next generation. About the SpeakersAnatalia, Noven, Ruth and Vivian are an inspiring team of young leaders in Ndhiwa, Kenya have come together to create an evidence-based, three step plan listing 10 tangible solutions to the inequalities and social injustices that remain prevalent for girls in their local and our global communities. Despite insurmountable inequalities, these young women have completed 12 years of quality education, graduated from university and are continuing their journey by empowering girls locally. Our young leaders have risen to the opportunities made available to them and are now using their education, voices and resources to drive change for vulnerable girls in their community. The solutions they have put forward are addressing three key areas where inequalities that threaten girls’ safety, education, equality and economic empowerment in Kenya are most prevalent, namely poverty, human rights and child abuse.

WHY WE ARE ASKING FOR A DONATION 
We are facing one of the most difficult years since 2017. Amidst the ongoing impact of the global pandemic, we are in urgent need of funding to support 1,300 vulnerable girls and their families in Ndhiwa. Without funding from generous supporters we are greatly restricted in our ability to ensure safety and resilience for girls in Homa Bay, who are facing disproportionate social &amp; economic barriers to education. This is why we are asking our audience to please give what they can to attend the event and support vulnerable girls. Over a decade of collaboration has proven that our work is transforming disempowered communities in Kenya and it is crucial that we continue to ensure that girls will remain in school. Without funding we face a significant threat to the life changing work that we have been co-creating, building and developing over the past twelve years together with our valued international community. 
You can help us to continue our vision for all girls Homa Bay, who are amongst the world’s most vulnerable, to complete at least twelve years of education in a safe and supportive environment. ABOUT TEAM KENYA Team Kenya was officially founded in 2008 thanks to the innovative collaboration of inspiring teachers based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and the Ndhiwa community, Kenya who worked together from 1999, focusing on international educational partnerships and a global curriculum exchange. Team Kenya, the grass root community in Ndhiwa, and Twende Pamoja have forged a strong relationship that has transformed the lives of over 60,000 people in Ndhiwa, including 20,000 young girls.In 2020 we began our journey of transition to shift the power to ensure the continued impact and future sustainability of our collaborative work lead by those overcoming inequalities in Kenya. In 2021 we are committed to use our platforms in the UK and around the world to empower girls and women to tell their own stories and inspire transformative change for gender equality, racial equality and environmental sustainability.
