N8 CIR Omics Data Hackathon
Omics data hackathon is a one-day, hands-on bioinformatics hackathon bringing together students, researchers, and data enthusiasts.
This event is open to all who currently attend an N8 partnership university, namely: Durham, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, and York.
Omics data hackathon is a one-day, hands-on bioinformatics hackathon bringing together students, researchers, and data enthusiasts from across the N8 universities. Participants will work in small teams of 5-6 and analyse publicly available omics datasets (genomic, transcriptomic, proteomics, etc.) to solve a research problem. Datasets and project ideas will be provided, but participants are welcome to pitch their own project idea (must be feasible to develop within a single day). Projects can include exploratory data analysis, benchmarking existing tools, or creative data-driven investigations. You don’t need to be an expert programmer or bioinformatician to take part. Beginners and experts alike are welcome.
The event is designed to be inclusive, collaborative, and supportive, with mentors, curated datasets, and computing resources provided on the day. Whether you come with a project idea or want to join a team, this hackathon is a great opportunity to learn, collaborate, and boost your CV with a fun, fast-paced scientific challenge. Places are limited. Please register by Friday, May 8th. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Places are limited at this event to 30, so please complete the registration form to the best of your ability. You will be notified if you have been offered a place.
