Nature Mono Printing with Mixed Media

About this course

Explore the exciting process of nature mono printing using natural materials such as flowers, leaves and ferns.

You will print both positive and negative impressions from your natural materials and you will explore colour mixing, shape, texture, layering and composition.

You will also be shown how to add abstract elements to your prints using relief printing techniques and Chine collé (tissue paper).

This course is suitable for beginners as well as those who want to further develop their

printmaking and composition skills.

What will you make?

You will create a wide range of small prints and will also have the chance to consolidate

your learning and produce a larger final print.

What will I need to bring?

All materials and equipment will be provided.

You may want to bring some ideas, imagery or reference material to draw from (though not essential). High contrast images work best.

Please wear old clothes as printing can get messy. No sandals, heels or open toed shoes. Aprons will be provided.

You may want to bring a snack and your own water bottle.

Teas and coffees are provided.

Carousel Print Studio is a not for profit charity based on the ground floor of Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate, Sheffield. Carousel provides educational workshops in printmaking and opportunities for creatives in Sheffield, in a bright, warm, accessible and well equipped printmaking studio.

About the tutor

This workshop is led by Diane Cooper from Workshop 57. Diane is an experienced art

teacher with over 20 years of experience. Diane has a degree in Fine Art (painting) but

her love of printmaking has now taken over!

Diane offers workshops across various venues and locations and in her home studio in

Sheffield. Diane is passionate about both art and teaching and loves passing on her

enthusiasm for all things print.
