Sunday, Jan 25, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm GMT
Overview

A group for 11-14 year olds who wish to learn some practical conservation skills, improve ecological knowledge, and enjoy the outdoors.

In this session we will be looking at bird feeding habits and their winter survival. We will be making bird feeders and taking part in the Big Garden Bird Watch.

Join this group of young volunteers and get some hands-on experience of managing a nature reserve and recording the wildlife. You'll gain new skills and get involved in conservation tasks including surveying, planting and painting tasks during these sessions.

These volunteering hours can count towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award or can be recorded as work experience on your CV, plus you’re helping to do your bit for the environment!

Please dress for the weather and bring suitable waterproof clothing. Wear sturdy boots/footwear.

Activities across different sessions may include:

  • Hand tool use
  • Painting
  • Planting
  • Grass cutting and raking
  • Litter picking
