Scope and Summary of the Seminar:

We live in a world of radical change and grand challenges. On the one hand, many

Universities plus Business Schools in the United Kingdom and abroad are facing

financial turmoil and are called to revise their ways of operating to enhance their

impact and safeguard their existence. This is precipitated by a volatile geopolitical

environment, revisions to the policies of countries like the United States of America

regarding Diversity Equality and Inclusion (DEI), artificial intelligence and data

privacy concerns, sustainability practices and their actual impact, as well as revised

policies regarding international migration. Such volatility influences how businesses

operate within and across countries and call corporate leaders to revise their approach

of doing business. These together call industry and academia to join forces and adapt

to a new reality. An interface of industry and academia is therefore needed, more

than ever, to allow us to navigate in an era of grand challenges and move toward a

sustainable future.

This CIBUL seminar comes in cooperation with the NPH Ethnic Minority Business

and Policy Forum and aims to discuss the interface between industry and academia

in an era of uncertainty. From how business schools can embrace a new reality of

impact and industry engagement, through the role of geopolitical changes and DEI

reconsiderations, to how businesses and society should get informed with trustworthy

information, our very specially selected speakers will bring together insights that are

cutting edge in informing academia and practice.
