What do you mean by profound disabilities and/or medical complexities?

Most parents in the group have children affected by one or more of: Learning disability, global delay, tube fed, epilepsy, non-verbal, visible difference, sensory impairment (hearing/visual), developmental delay, mobility limitations, multiple surgeries. Some have a diagnosis, many don't.

Is this group for parents who have a child of any age?

Accepted Answer

The group is aimed at parents of young children with complex disabilities, because the early years are exceptionally hard. Most parents in the group have a child who is under 7, but if your child is older than that and you feel this group might be useful then please come along.

Question 3

What can I expect from a Navigation and Nurture session?

Accepted Answer

The first half of the session is the navigation part, where professionals are available to answer your questions , and the second half is the nurture part, where we spend time connecting and building some emotional resilience.

Is there parking at the venue?

What time can I arrive?

If you are bringing your baby/child please arrive by 9.45am,so you can get your child settled and get a cup of something hot. Even if you don't have your child please feel free to arrive early if that helps you.

Will the playworkers be able to look after my child?

Accepted Answer

The playworkers are experienced at working with complex children. They are there to support you and help keep your child entertained so you can focus. Your baby/child will be in the same room as you and you remain responsible for them throughout.

Is the venue accessible?

Can you tell me more about the free transport?

Accepted Answer

If the cost of getting to the session is getting in the way of you attending, then let us know and we can cover your fuel, public transport or taxi costs. After you have registered there is a second form where you can ask for transport help.

How do I pay the suggested donation for the playworker?

Is there somewhere for me to change my child?

Accepted Answer

Yes! There is a baby changing station. There isn't a changing place for children that require hoisting.
