NCACE Collection Launch: Essays, case studies, and toolkits on creating collaborative ecologies between higher education and the arts.

NCACE’s Evidence Café sessions have been held regularly since March 2021. The café is an online space for presentations, evidence and information sharing, story-telling as well as a community of knowledge sharing and exchange. Over the last two years, our cafés have created key spaces for conversation on topics including: Impact and REF, Place-making, Climate Emergency, Health and Wellbeing and KEF.Our March 2023 Evidence café will act as a launch event to highlight, reflect on and celebrate our new NCACE Collection, which is made up of a series of essays, case-studies and toolkits as well as highlighting recent NCACE reports and commissioned blogs. We will be bringing together some of the authors and contributors in discussions about the development and impacts of creative collaborations, cultural knowledge exchange and rich histories and ecologies of such work. We will also be considering the importance of writing about this field as it evolves.We’re envisaging the collection as the start of a set of living resources that can grow into the future in order to inspire and encourage fresh thinking, new writing and resources and deeper and more engaged readership on the collaborative ecologies between higher education and the arts and cultural sector.Our contributors will include:<a href="https://www.caracourage.net/" title="https://www.caracourage.net/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dr Cara Courage</a>, Consultant, change agent and academic. Cara’s essay focuses on Cultural Compacts and their role in encouraging networks and collaborations between universities, the arts, local authorities and other community agents.<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/bronac-ferran-6325571a/?originalSubdomain=uk" title="https://www.linkedin.com/in/bronac-ferran-6325571a/?originalSubdomain=uk" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bronac Ferran</a>, Writer, curator and researcher. Bronac’s essay reflects on: the emergence of interdisciplinarity tendencies within the arts, experimentation, machine languages and possibilities for the evolving humanities.<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/rosy-greenlees-obe-a30a9a16/?originalSubdomain=uk" title="https://www.linkedin.com/in/rosy-greenlees-obe-a30a9a16/?originalSubdomain=uk" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Rosy Greenlees OBE</a>, Former Executive Director, Crafts Council, Trustee Creative &amp; Cultural Skills and British Ceramics Biennale and NCACE Sounding Board member. Rosy’s essay presents a rich account of the evolution, strengths and challenges of some key partnerships between Crafts Council and Higher Education.<a href="https://profiles.sussex.ac.uk/p29619-ann-light" title="https://profiles.sussex.ac.uk/p29619-ann-light" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Professor Ann Light</a> (University of Sussex) will be joining us to talk about her work as Co-creator of the <a href="https://creaturesframework.org/about.html" title="https://creaturesframework.org/about.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CreaTures Framework</a>, one of our featured case-studies.<a href="https://www.keele.ac.uk/humanities/ourpeople/davidamigoni/" title="https://www.keele.ac.uk/humanities/ourpeople/davidamigoni/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Professor David Amigoni</a> (Professor of Victorian Literature, Keele University and Chair of The Conversation) will be joining us as respondent.The Evidence Café will be co-hosted by <a href="https://ncace.ac.uk/about/core-team/evelyn-wilson/" title="https://ncace.ac.uk/about/core-team/evelyn-wilson/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Evelyn Wilson</a> (Co-Director, NCACE) and <a href="https://ncace.ac.uk/about/core-team/laura-kemp/" title="https://ncace.ac.uk/about/core-team/laura-kemp/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dr Laura Kemp</a> (Senior Manager, NCACE).Alongside presentations there will be opportunity for group discussion and we will also be highlighting plans for the next steps in the collection as well as opportunities for further involvement in <a href="https://ncace.ac.uk/evidence-hub/" title="https://ncace.ac.uk/evidence-hub/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NCACE Evidence Repository</a> development through our emerging Guest Writers and Curators Programme.NCACE is an initiative led by <a href="https://theculturecapitalexchange.co.uk/areas-of-work/ncace/" title="https://theculturecapitalexchange.co.uk/areas-of-work/ncace/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">TCCE</a> and funded by <a href="https://www.ukri.org/news/national-centre-to-fulfil-sectors-knowledge-exchange-potential/" title="https://www.ukri.org/news/national-centre-to-fulfil-sectors-knowledge-exchange-potential/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Research England</a> to facilitate and support capacity for Knowledge Exchange between Higher Education and the arts and cultural sector across the UK, with a particular focus on evidencing and showcasing the social, cultural, environmental, as well as economic, impacts of such activities.NCACE Evidence Café is part of our wider Evidence building activities and resources. These include ongoing <a href="https://ncace.ac.uk/evidence-hub/evidence-repository/ncace-publications/" title="https://ncace.ac.uk/evidence-hub/evidence-repository/ncace-publications/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NCACE-led publications</a> in and around the field of cultural knowledge exchange, our ever growing <a href="https://ncace.ac.uk/evidence-hub/evidence-repository/" title="https://ncace.ac.uk/evidence-hub/evidence-repository/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NCACE Evidence Repository</a>, an annual policy workshop and other activities that help us to better document the scale, extent, nature and drivers of knowledge exchange collaborations between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the arts and cultural sector.
