Net Zero Talks – Transitioning to carbon neutrality
You are invited to attend this Net Zero Talk on 'Transitioning to carbon neutrality', to find out more about the future of electricity generation and renewable heating, as well as what the interim target means to you and the Island.
Speakers:
- Electricity Generation – Steve Forden, Head of Energy Policy, DEFA. Steve will provide some explanation on the Future Energy Scenarios, and what this means for the Isle of Man.
- Renewable Heating Scenarios – Rob Honeyman, Head of Analysis; Christopher Lewis, Economic Analyst; Rory Mathews, Senior Economist, Gemserve. They will be presenting the recently published Renewable Heating Scenarios report that delivers three high-level scenarios to reflect different technology mixes to decarbonise our buildings.
- Interim Target – Richard Lole, Executive Director, Climate Change Team, Cabinet Office. Richard will explain the importance of the interim target and what it means to you and the Island.
Consultation
We are currently running a consultation to find out your thoughts to help us set our Island's target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, as an interim step to achieving net zero by 2050.
This interim target will show how ambitious and committed our Island is to transition to a low carbon society, which has financial, social, environmental and reputational implications.
The four-week consultation, which closes on Monday 21 February, outlines two options that both focus on the high emission sectors of energy, heating, transport and land use/food production.Click here to find out more about the consultation and to take part.
