This Webinar introduces the SEC Net Zero Workshops, covering sustainable church heating, energy efficiency & volunteering for the workshops.

As the Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC) reaches the end of the 2023 Season of Creation, the Provincial Environment Group (PEG) is seeking ten congregations from across the SEC to join a new series of Net Zero Workshops this autumn. These sessions focus on energy use in SEC buildings, linking environmental goals with financial considerations.Modelled on the UK-wide HeatHack programme, previous participating churches identified immediate energy-saving steps and planned for long-term changes. The <a href="https://heathack.org/welcome-to-the-scottish-episcopal-church" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">HeatHack website</a> describes the workshops as group sessions that help churches get started on sustainable heating for their spaces. They cover energy efficiency, thermal comfort in buildings, building use in local settings, and financial implications.Each workshop will be made up of six to ten participants from congregations, church building users, and the local community. The total workshop time is six hours, divided over several sessions.During this introductory online webinar, you can expect to learn about:<ul><li>the inspiration and framework behind the Net Zero Workshops</li><li>the outcomes of past participants in the HeatHack programme.</li><li>the basics of energy efficiency within church buildings</li><li>the structure of the workshops</li><li>the opportunities available to volunteers</li></ul>The Webinar is ideal for anyone who is already keen to enrol in the workshops, as well as those who have questions about the initiative.
