Networking for women in science, technology, engineering or maths (STEM), and for those that support them, in and around Plymouth, UK.

Do you have an interest in STEM and want to meet others that do too? Do you work in a male-dominated environment and want to talk about your job to a more mixed group? Is your workplace a champion of gender equality, but you'd like to help others reach the same level of diversity? Do you want to connect your students or young people you influence with fantastic female role models?

You're in luck! All of the above are fantastic reasons to come to a WISP networking event.

Our 2019 events are in partnership with the fantastic Real Ideas Organisation, in their Ocean Studios café in the heart of one of Plymouth's most iconic destinations, Royal William Yard. Come along, meet some new people, learn something new and have fun.

**Guest Speaker**

We're kicking off 2019 with our fabulous Chair, Dr Lorna Dallas, who will be helping you boost your public speaking confidence.

Lorna believes that clear communication is the number one skill you can have in any job, and has honed her craft in roles as a Head Host at the National Marine Aquarium, Marine Biology teacher in The Bahamas, Scientific Researcher for the University of Plymouth, as a Safety Engineer for an international engineering company and while skills sharing in Malawi. She is also a STEM Ambassador and can frequently be found talking about WISP's work and her passion for gender equality for anyone that will have her across our city!

In her interactive workshop, entitled "Telling Stories to the World" Lorna will use her experience to help you think about public speaking differently and dispel some of the fear that surrounds it.

**FAQs**

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Network with WISP is for those aged 18 or over. Please check out our events page (www.winstempymouth.org/upcoming-events) for details of our Autumn careers fair and #GirlCode sessions for younger people.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

BUS: The number 34 bus travels from the City Centre and stops at the Royal William Yard Roundabout.

TRAIN: The cloeset mainline station is situated in the centre of the City Centre, we are a half an hour walk away or a short bus journey.

BOAT: The ferry runs every hour from the Barbican to Royal William Yard, or you can travel from Cornwall on the Cremyll Ferry to Stonehouse. Note: we do not know when ferry services stop in the evening, please check!

CAR: Parking is available at Royal William Yard for a fee (£2 for 2 hours). We have been advised by the venue that parking is cheaper and easy to top up if you use the Pay by Phone app rather than cash.

Whereabouts in Royal William Yard is Ocean Studios?

Ocean Studios is in the old cooperage. You can enter the cafe via the side entrance (opposite las Iguanas) or via the courtyard (past the red phonebox).

What's the refund policy?

As we have to book catering in advance and WISP is an unfunded organisation, we cannot give refunds. We're very sorry, but please feel free to pass your ticket onto someone else who will enjoy the event.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Nope! We can look you up using the name the ticket was booked under.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes! As long as you know the name of the person who booked the ticket.
