NEW NIGHT is back, baby! We love performances. We love games. And so do you, so we’re bringing them together again for the new, NEW NIGHT. Curated by Gabriel Akamo and Riwa Saab, in partnership with Bermondsey Project Space, NEW NIGHT features artists from across, between, and beyond creative practices. <h2>Zia Ahmed</h2>zia ahmed is a writer from north-west london. he is a former roundhouse slam champion + in 2019 zia’s stage debut I WANNA BE YOURS premiered at the bush. He is a recipient of The Royal Court Theatre Jerwood New Play Wrights Programme 2021. @ziaahmedx

Gabriel Jones is a multi-disciplinary artist from West Wales, working within poetry, theatre making and sound production. His work has appeared at the Albany, Barbican and Roundhouse, and on stages at Brainchild, Bestival and Lovebox. He was a BBC words first poet (2020) and a Roundhouse resident artist (2018) where he curated Let me out my room please; a collaborative poetry album, live show and pamphlet. He has been published in anthologies by Bad Betty and Mud Press. His writing is currently focused on family, mental health and what freedom means.

Gabriel Akamo is a Nigerian-British poet, actor, facilitator, and creative producer. Drawing on his background in both theatre and Philosophy, his writing currently explores faith, relationships, and his overlapping identities. His previous commissions include the Royal Academy of Arts, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Southbank Centre, and he has been a speaker at Gresham College. Previous festival performances include Lovebox, Bestival, and Festival Kometa in Riga, Latvia. He has been published in a number of anthologies, released his debut pamphlet, ‘At the Speed of Dark’ in 2020, and will appear in this year’s forthcoming anthology, Before Them, We, by flipped eye publishing.

Riwa is a London-based multi-disciplinary artist working with words, sound, and space. She started writing and performing her original poetry and music while growing up in Beirut. Her work explores the diasporic experience of building geographic/cultural bridges, unpacking generational and familial baggage, and creating space for pockets of joy.

Luca Kamleh Chapman/Kase is an actor and musician from South West London. He recently appeared in The Royal Court Theatre’s production of ‘two Palestinians go dogging’ by Sami Ibrahim before graduating from drama school in July. Whilst attending his training he released a 5 track EP entitled ‘Bad Habit’ and more recently, a two track release called ‘two’. He aims to combine his two crafts going forward with story based writing, alongside reflections about his own world through hip hop and music in general.
