New Product Development – Basic Sensory AwarenessSensory assessment of food and drinks products can be used to inform many aspects of new product development and ongoing product quality assessment. This introductory level workshop aims to give an overview of the five human senses used to undertake sensory evaluation, consider how and when sensory evaluation could be used within the NPD process to engage consumers and provide feedback to inform product development, and includes a basic practical exercise* to test your detection of the five basic taste stimuli.In this introductory workshop an overview of key areas will include:•	Basic sensory principles•	The five basic senses•	Different types of sensory test methods•	Basic taste detection This workshop is useful for anyone thinking about undertaking consumer taste testing or looking to introduce taste panels to their product testing methods.*This exercise will include caffeine These fully funded, interactive workshops will be held at ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre in Cardiff.If you would like to discuss more detailed or bespoke training needs for your business, please contact us via zero2five@cardiffmet.ac.uk for further information.Whilst these workshops form a series, you can attend individual workshops to suit your business needs.As part of your attendance at this workshop, delegates will be asked for their National Insurance number at the end of the session.
