She asks that you remain open to experience the absurd and the ridiculous, embrace chaos and silence – and engage with your own physicality and self-awareness.This is a brilliant opportunity for people to up-skill and engage positively with self-awareness, their own physicality and lived experiences. Women's Clowning & Comedy In-Person Workshop:  for women to understand how clowning and comedy can support a feeling of freedom

Building on Maggie Irving’s PhD thesis on feminist clowning, this is a chance for women to understand how clowning and comedy can support a feeling of freedom from social norms in order to build confidence and communication skills for professional and personal use. What will we be doing?	We will engage in stimulating and playful exercises to help build relationships and allow people to be ‘seen and heard’	Be introduced to the concept of clowning for women through Maggie’s practice as research doctoral study on becoming a female/feminist clown 	Create an understanding of the fundamentals of feeling free, ridiculous and open to express yourself	Building knowledge on using language and physical expression to create connections with others and generate laughter, including exaggeration, mime and mimicry	Telling our stories and sharing our unique points of view Don’t worry –no pressure to be funny or have experience of comedy.Dr Maggie Irving lecturer – writer – performer – researcher.Photo: Matt Austin
