New Year Ashtanga Workshop with Donna Southwell

New Year Ashtanga Workshop with Donna Southwell

InHale Yoga StudioHale, Cheshire
Sunday, Jan 11, 2026 from 9 am to 12 pm GMT
Overview

A 3 hour workshop will be based on the rhythm and flow of the Ashtanga yoga primary series & including some postures from the later series.

This three hour workshop will be based around the rhythm and flow of the Ashtanga yoga primary series. We will begin with shoulder opening work, simple pranayama and meditation before moving into the practice itself. I will introduce the traditional Sanskrit counted method but there will be lots of opportunity to play, to focus on technique and to throw in a few of the more challenging and fun intermediate or advanced postures.

The workshop is open to anyone with previous experience of yoga. It will be challenging but you will always be encouraged to work within your own limits – and it will be a lot of fun. The perfect way to re energise yourself as we start to move into the new year.

We will end with a long deep relaxation so bring along your warm cosy clothes and blankets. Blankets also available at the studio to borrow.

ABOUT DONNA SOUTHWELL

Donna was introduced to Ashtanga yoga in Rishikesh, North India in 1999 and has had a regular practice ever since. Her main teacher was Hamish Hendry at Ashtanga Yoga London with whom she worked as an apprentice for many years learning to teach and give hands on adjustments in the traditional Msyore style. She travelled regularly to Mysore, India to study with Pattabhi Jois and Sharath and received authorisation to teach the primary and intermediate series in 2012.
