The Yorkshire Cyber Security Cluster is a collaborative group of experts within the cybersecurity industry that are committed to sharing best practice, supporting regional practitioners, growing the cyber ecosystem and building a stronger standard of cybersecurity in our region.Founded in 2015, the cluster has over 850 members and brings together  Cybersecurity Professionals, Cyber Security Solution Providers, Advisors, Governing bodies, Academia and Police.Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. The topics are varied, but discussions are always topical and thought-provoking.We welcome anyone with an interest and passion for cybersecurity.

She’s helped organisations across sectors identify risks and embed effective security controls. Her passion lies in turning security theory into actionable best practice.Ali Malik – Ali is Co-Founder and Director of Cyber Alchemy, with over a decade of experience in offensive security, DevSecOps, and ISO 27001. His work blends deep technical knowledge with practical business impact, helping organisations secure systems across web, mobile, and cloud environments.Will Collison – Will has over 20 years of experience working in cyber security and is currently Global Head of Cryptography at HSBC. He’s leading the transformation of a critical part of the bank’s cyber operations and heads a team of specialists focused on the foundations of secure computing. Will will take us through the fundamentals of cryptography and explain how quantum computing is set to reshape cybersecurity in the years ahead. Topic: ISO 27001:2022 – Implementation Over Documentation
ISO 27001:2022 isn’t just a set of policies to file away—it’s a framework for transforming how organizations approach information security. In this talk, Setareh will challenge the conventional thinking that ISO 27001 is all about paperwork and instead focus on its true value in real-world application. Using the example of a simple online shop, Setareh will demonstrate how ISO 27001 controls shall be implemented and how it can strengthen the security posture of any business.

How We Turned a Secure POS Device into a Surveillance and PIN Stealing Tool
Card machines are trusted across the fintech industry to handle secure transactions, but how secure are they really? In this live presentation, Ali from Cyber Alchemy walks through a real-world security assessment of a widely deployed point-of-sale (POS) terminal. What appeared to be a locked-down device was fully compromised using simple techniques: bypassing kiosk mode, leveraging default credentials, deploying malware, stealing PIN numbers and activating onboard surveillance features.
