NHS Terminology Server: A Pre-Hack 'Learnathon'
Event Information
About this Event
Join us for this *FREE online day of learning - or 'learnathon' - intended for anyone with an interest in the progress, current applications, and potential scope of the NHS Digital Terminology Server. In particular, this event has been designed as an educational event to prepare developers wishing to take part in our Terminology Server Hackathon on 24 & 25 February (tickets to be released shortly and booked separately).
OBJECTIVES
With a jam-packed schedule of live tutorials, demos, and practical exercises, this learnathon has been carefully designed for anyone looking to develop, manage or implement complex code systems, such as SNOMED CT.
This 'learnathon' is intended to lay the foundations for those wishing to take part in our Terminology Server Hackathon, scheduled for 24 & 25 February, when participants will be invited to put learning into practice; to test connections and explore ways in which the Terminology Server can be harnessed to provide health and care professionals with access to the information they need at the point of care. This hackathon will suggest, but not be limited to, use of the Terminology Server in an Emergency Care setting - most notably for frailty flagging, pathology testing, and logging and/or accessing observations at the point of care.
We intend to deliver future hackathons around the application of the Terminology Server in other clinical and research scenarios in the near future.
TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE:
- How the Terminology Server can be used in decision support tools,
- Developing an EHR or Medical Information System built upon the Terminology Server,
- Possible applications of the Terminology Server in the creation of a more developed PHR, more detailed electronic referrals, and more reliable longitudinal records and datasets for research.
- FHIR operations and mapping
- Terminology Server to support interoperability
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Whether you are a software developer keen to test how the NHS Digital Terminology Server might be used to support new or existing solutions, a project lead wishing to deepen existing understanding knowledge of its possible applications, or a clinician curious to see how it could support faster, more effective patient care, there will be sessions to suit every level of learning and familiarity with this tool.
