<p>Poussin&#x27;s great multi-figured paintings are beautifully composed, highly coloured evocations of classical &amp; religious subjects. They can be a little daunting and it is heartening to know that even Poussin&#x27;s learned patrons sometimes struggled with their meaning! Join Hattie as she guides us through.</p><p>Instructing that his paintings should be &quot;read&quot; Poussin drew on the  classicism of his adopted city Rome.  In this talk art historian Hattie Bennett will trace Poussin&#x27;s biography, his painting practices and influences, his patrons and his intellectual circle to fully understand his art and the influence it had on the French school in the 17th century.</p>
