This event is intended for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) preparing NIHR i4i FAST applications.
The NIHR Invention for Innovation (i4i) Programme is hosting a dedicated workshop to support potential applicants for the i4i FAST (Funding At the Speed of Translation) scheme. This session is designed to help innovators improve the quality and competitiveness of their applications through practical tools and a clear understanding of the assessment criteria.
The workshop will provide a detailed overview of what constitutes a "good" FAST application, sharing best practices, tips, and common pitfalls to avoid. This will include interactive practical exercises where attendees can begin applying these principles to their own project ideas in real-time.
Attendees will be introduced to a new i4i FAST Application Playbook, which includes a comprehensive checklist to help applicants self-assess and refine their proposals before requesting 1:1 specialist support from the NIHR Research Support Service (RSS).
The RSS provides a range of expertise to help researchers develop high-quality applications. By attending this workshop, applicants will learn how to prepare their core case effectively to make the most of the RSS support available within the short i4i FAST call window.
For more information on the RSS, please visit the NIHR RSS website.
Key features of the workshop:
- Guidance on the characteristics of a high-quality i4i FAST application and the reviewer’s perspective on the remit.
- Introduction to the i4i FAST Playbook and practical self-assessment checklists.
- Insights into how to compare your proposal against i4i FAST "best practice" standards.
- Overview of the RSS support available to help finalise your application.
All attendees will receive the NIHR i4i FAST Playbook, enabling you to audit your own application before requesting a formal 1:1 review from the RSS.
