Non-Violent Communication: Giraffe or Jackal?

Non-Violent Communication: Giraffe or Jackal?

The Hague Humanity HubDen Haag, South Holland
Friday, Mar 20 from 2 pm to 4 pm CET
Overview

Join the workshop and explore a different way of communicating.

A job interview feels tense. A team discussion turns sensitive. A conversation about values, diversity or social impact suddenly becomes uncomfortable.

This interactive workshop offers a first introduction to Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Rather than promising quick fixes, this session creates awareness of how language shapes connection - and how small shifts in communication influence the quality of dialogue.

Using the metaphor of the “giraffe” and the “jackal”, you explore the difference between reactive and connecting communication styles. Through guided reflection and short practical exercises, you practise distinguishing observation from interpretation, noticing emotional triggers, and expressing yourself with more clarity.

The focus stays on awareness and insight: recognising patterns in yourself and in professional interactions such as interviews, teamwork, networking or value-driven conversations. You leave with a clearer understanding of NVC principles and concrete examples of how they apply in daily work situations.

The workshop is guided by an experienced NVC trainer who works with professionals in international and multicultural contexts. The session combines brief explanations with interactive exercises in a safe and engaging setting.

Curious whether you speak more giraffe or jackal?

Join the conversation on March 20th (14:00-16:00) and explore a different way of communicating. The workshop is organised by JobOn and The Hague Humanity Hub.
