Following the establishment of Digital Humanities centres and hubs in the North West and N8 region over the past decade, it is important to build upon a mutually-beneficial network of Digital Humanities communities and further strengthen our collaborative potential and research excellence. This workshop is designed to bring the Northern Digital Humanities and Social Science Centres together to build opportunities for collaboration through research, teaching and career development. The workshop will be useful for those involved in DH research, and in particular, those who are: keen on collaborating and utilising valid funding streams; discussing impact and public engagement in DH; reflecting upon existing models of DH through a consideration of leadership and infrastructure; designing or engaging in relevant teaching pathways; or are investing in career development for students and researchers. It is thus primarily aimed at those who are (or wish to be) active in shaping the future of their Digital Humanities’ teams.

The Universities of Liverpool and Lancaster are therefore delighted to be organising the Northern Digital Humanities Workshop, aimed at university staff, postdocs, PhD students and Master’s students currently engaged in Digital Humanities research and teaching in the North-West and N8 region.

This half-day workshop at the University of Liverpool (19th February 2020, 12:00-17:00) will focus on four key areas for discussion, troubleshooting, and collaboration: (1) An overview of the current strengths and concerns for Digital Humanities teams in the region; (2) Leadership, infrastructure, and models of Digital Humanities centres; (3) PGT, PGR, Postdoctoral and Early Career Researcher’s development in Digital Humanities; (4) Collaboration opportunities and mutual support.
