NOTTURNO URBANO
Cinematic nocturnal piano: Glass, Badalamenti, Lynch, Satie, Richter, The Doors, Cage. Eclectic, evocative, genre-defying.
Notturno Urbano is the new project by pianist and composer Giusto Di Lallo. Its focus is to explore the emotional geography of cities after dark, through a piano repertoire that crosses diverse musical worlds, dissolving traditional genre barriers into a single, nocturnal, and evocative narrative.
From the mesmerizing music of Philip Glass to the cinematic shadows of Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch, from the post-impressionism of Erik Satie to rock reminiscences and avant-garde, this unconventional concert offers a deep immersion into the soul of the urban night.
Giusto Di Lallo is a versatile and eclectic pianist and composer, renowned for his innovative approach that bridges genres and cultures. He earned a Master’s degree in Piano and a Master’s degree in Composition at the Conservatorio “Lorenzo Perosi” (IT).
Since 1996, he has been a dynamic presence in the concert scene, performing on over 1800 occasions, both as a solo pianist and accompanist. His performances showcase a wide-ranging repertoire that spans classical, contemporary, and experimental music.
His album “Philip Glass - Piano Etudes - 10th Anniversary Special Edition” (SOMM Recordings, February 2025) has been described as “a most rewarding album” (Classical Explorer) and “a welcome addition to the repertoire.” (Gramophone).
Besides his career as a performing artist, Giusto also works as a composer, arranger, and producer, creating music across diverse musical contexts. His creative output extends to composing for visual media, theatre, and dance. He is also the creator and director of several multimedia shows and provides sound installations for art galleries and unconventional environments.
