Oaks Mining Disaster
Thu 1 December 2016, 10:00 – 13:00 GMT
The disaster at Oaks Colliery near Barnsley in December 1866 killed at least 361 people. December 2016 marks the 150th anniversary of what remains the largest mining disaster in English history. This Workshop brings together many of those involved in the commemorative process to explore the meanings and resonances attached to the disaster and its memory.
