About this event
18TH OCTOBER 2025
GUEST ARTIST: KAT MARSH
SESSION FOCUS: LYRICS, SONG WRITING AND RECORDING
Music Lab is an opportunity to explore the possibilities of music technology as a means experimenting, creating, recording, editing, and mixing music. The workshops will expand your composition boundaries and production techniques.
Whether you're a seasoned musician or just starting out, don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with fellow music lovers and make some exciting music together!
Music Lab will be led by course tutor Will Frampton, together with a selection of guest professional musicians. Participants will create new music and sounds through exploration of different technologies whilst working with professional musicians from the industry. Using traditional musical instruments as well other sound sources, such as found sound and voice, music lab creates experimental music and sound art. Apps, synthesisers, loops and other elements of sound recording and editing will also be used and participants are also welcome to bring their own instruments to add to the mix. Although the sessions are open to anyone aged 14-18rs, if you are outside this age group but you have an enthusiasm for music and a creative mind, please do get in touch with us to discuss other opportunities. There will be no barriers to what you can create!
Music Lab one of our projects as part of the Young Creatives programme which is a diverse, exploratory, innovative and experimental programme of activity, with and for young people. Whatever the artform, at the heart of our ‘young creatives’ programme is the desire to encourage arts-led inquiry, and offer the means to discover and enhance a language of self expression in participants.

Mae’r Lab Cerdd yn gyfle i archwilio posibiliadau technoleg cerdd fel ffordd o greu, recordio a golygu cerddoriaeth. Bydd y gweithdai’n ehangu eich ffiniau cyfansoddi a’ch technegau cynhyrchu.
Bydd y Lab Cerdd yn cael ei arwain gan y tiwtor Will Frampton, yn ogystal â detholiad o gerddorion proffesiynol. Bydd y cyfranogwyr yn creu seinweddau gyda’r cerddorion, gan ddefnyddio offerynnau cerdd traddodiadol yn ogystal â ffynonellau sain eraill, fel llais a sain a ganfyddir, i greu cerddoriaeth arbrofol a chelf sain. Bydd apiau, syntheseiddwyr, lŵps ac elfennau eraill o recordio a golygu sain hefyd yn cael eu defnyddio, a bydd croeso i gyfranogwyr ddod â’u hofferynnau eu hunain. Fydd dim rhwystrau i’ch creadigaethau!
Mae’r Lab Cerdd ar agor i unrhyw un rhwng 14 a 18 oed sydd â meddwl creadigol a brwdfrydedd am gerddoriaeth. Os ydych chi tu allan i’r ystod oedran yma, cysylltwch â ni drwy A2@artsactive.org.uk i drafod cyfleoedd eraill.
Mae’r Lab Cerdd, a ariennir gan Tŷ Cerdd, yn un o’r prosiectau sy’n rhan o raglen Pobl Ifanc Greadigol, sy’n rhaglen o weithgareddau amrywiol, archwiliadol, arloesol ac arbrofol gyda phobl ifanc ac ar eu cyfer. Waeth beth yw’r ffurf ar gelfyddyd, wrth wraidd ein rhaglen ‘pobl ifanc greadigol’ mae’r awydd i annog chwilfrydedd dan arweiniad y celfyddydau, a chynnig ffordd o ddarganfod a gwella iaith o hunanfynegiant ymhlith cyfranogwyr.

"I’m a UK based professional vocalist, musician and songwriter with over 16 years of studio and live experience. I’ve worked with a variety of artists and producers, including Grammy-nominated band Bring Me The Horizon and Grammy-winning producers Stephen Fitzmaurice and Jacquire King. I've performed at some of the UK's premiere music venues and festivals including the Royal Albert Hall, the Roundhouse, Reading & Leeds Festivals, Glastonbury, Download Festival and Bestival.
In addition to my work as a soloist, I’m also the founder of (and choir leader/arranger for) Choir Noir. Choir Noir is a unique and versatile choir made up of hand-picked vocalists from across the UK, who have a wealth of combined experience in both recording and live environments. We provide a vocal fixing and arrangement service for tours, studio sessions and live performances. Our album credits include the Number One, Grammy-nominated album ‘amo’ by Bring Me The Horizon and the Number One album ‘For Those That Wish To Exist’ by Architects.
I am also an experienced topline writer, lyricist and songwriter. My songs have been played on major radio stations and have been synced to movies and TV shows internationally. I released my debut album ‘Portal’ as Cestra in 2020 (cestra.co.uk).
I work in partnership with Parallax Orchestra, a professional UK-based orchestra who provide a session-player fixing and music arranging service. For more information visit their site parallaxorchestra.com."
