Early Career Teacher Network
Content: Network for Early Career Teachers to share experiences, develop their practice and reflect on their achievements as new teachers. There will be three sessions across the year led by Hannah Dawson.
For: Separate sessions for 1st and 2nd year ECTs with a joint final session in the summer term.

Meeting 1: Thursday 19th September, 1.30-3.30pm
1st Year ECTs
Focus: Getting it right from the start: Creating positive relationships with children (getting to know them well), parents (positive communication and routines) and colleagues (support, learning and working as a team). What does being a professional teacher look like (emails, social media, outward facing, formality and informality)? The importance of routines and behaviour management. Managing workload.
Meeting 2: Tuesday 22nd October, 1.30-3.30pm
2nd Year ECTs
Focus: Thinking beyond your own classroom: Teaching as a vocation (The why? Identifying the positives and my own strengths as a teacher), making the most of professional development opportunities (iteration is new learning, hunting for the take-aways), sharing ideas for long inquiry projects. Managing workload.
Meeting 3: Wednesday 5th February, 1.30-3.30pm
1st Year ECTs
Focus: Planning: Teach, Model, Assess, Repeat… Creating rigorous and more effective lesson plans that get children where they need to be. EYFS. Fixing behaviour problems, bad habits and resetting. Managing workload.
Meeting 4: Thursday 27th March, 1.30-3.30pm
2nd Year ECTs
Focus: Looking forward: Beyond being an ECT - mastering my teaching, new learning and professional development, subject leadership, EYFS. Setting long-term personal/professional goals. How would I chart my progress? Managing workload.
Meeting 5: Friday 13th June, 1.30-3.30pm
1st and 2nd Year ECTs
Focus: Inquiry projects and reflection of the year: 2nd Year ECTs sharing their project outcomes, experiences of inquiry projects and their 2nd year, with 1st Year ECTs; all ECTs having an opportunity to reflect on their achievements of the past year and to consider what their next steps are. Managing workload.
