This in an invitation - let's try writing together. Together, as a community of people connected through a shared experience of weight loss groups, we will explore this theme through simple writing exercises.

No previous writing experience is required, and no previous knowledge of performance or theatre is needed either.

Through the 1 hour workshop we will:

Get to know one another a little
Hear a bit more about the process Kate has been on through starting to write 'Off the Scales'
Try out some simple exercises together, through speaking and writing

We may write something together which is brilliant - we may not! This really is an experiment with no pressure to achieve anything other than giving it a go.

Running the session will be Kate with support from Molly Scarborough and Aileen Gonsalves - who are part of the Off the Scales team. All three are experienced workshop facilitators, and will also be taking part in the exercises as well.

You will need:

Internet access
Zoom installed on your device
A device with webcam and microphone so you can be seen and heard during the workshop (unless this presents a barrier to you attending)
Something to write with
A space where you feel able to engage with the workshop

Booking

The workshop is limited to 10 places, on a first come first served basis. You will need to book on Eventbrite to secure your place. There is no charge to attend.

If you have any access requirements please contact Kate via hello@katemcstraw.com to discuss arranging support such as BSL interpretation, live captioning or financial support towards childcare for the workshop duration, for example.

Automated transcription through otter.ai is provided.

If you require a PA/Support Worker to attend, you do not need to book them a ticket for them to accompany you.
