About this event

The launch of this OIX guide is designed to provide an expert view on what a good trust framework might look like, by detailing its salient components: the principles, content, roles and responsibilities.

The 2022 OIX Trust Framework gets us all ready to deliver smart, or intelligent, Digital IDs. Whether this is a Smart Wallet or a cloud based Intelligent Digital ID, the characteristics for success are the same. A Digital ID must work for both the user and for the organisations who want to get trusted information from that user. It must be able to understand the often complex rules that organisations must follow to proof a user and determine if that user is eligible for services. It must guide the user through a process to fulfil those rules: gathering credentials, allowing information to be derived from those credentials, then consent to sharing of that information in a data minimised way. It must do all that without requiring the user to understand the complex rules.

Our new 2022 Trust Framework builds on the beta version OIX released in 2020. It embraces self-sovereign approaches and terminology, whilst remaining technology agnostic. It links user facing principles to framework principles. It defines 30 different components of a trust framework that need to be implemented to make Digital ID trusted and successful. Most importantly, it lays the foundation for achieving global interoperability of Digital IDs across trust frameworks.

We hope you can join us for this launch event.
