Cultureword  is a writing development organisation based in Manchester, providing opportunities for new and aspiring writers to develop their talent and potential. Our competitions, workshops and events act as a point of focus for many writers seeking encouragement and confidence. From small beginnings in 1977, we have grown into the largest new writing, community writing and publishing organisation in the North West. We work on regional, national and international levels, promoting new writing and helping new writers become more successful.

Join us for the 5th edition of Commonword’s Oldham Open Mic series. A celebration of the writing talent burgeoning in the town &amp; beyond. Always warm and welcoming, we'd love to have you!Plus this month we are thrilled to be joined by star singer-songwriter <a href="https://www.instagram.com/thanksalotnaomi/" title="https://www.instagram.com/thanksalotnaomi/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Naomi Kalu </a>performing an exclusive setBook your open mic slot by emailing admin@cultureword.org.uk Open mic slots are 3 minutes per performer and are allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis from the stated booking time. If they are already filled, you will be offered a space on the reserve list.This free event is taking place at Hack Oldham
