The training is named after Oliver McGowan.
Oliver was a young man who died because health and social care staff did not have the right training.
This showed the need for staff to:
- 📘 Have better understanding
- 🧠 Build the right knowledge
- 🛡️ Give safe and caring support
Because of this, the Government made this training mandatory.
📜 The law is called the Health and Care Act 2022.
This training is the recommended training for health and social care staff.

- 🧍 Work Collegues
- 🌱 Anyone who wants to learn more
You do not need to be a professional to attend.

Completing the correct Tier:
- ✔️ Meets the Health and Care Act 2022
- ✔️ Meets Care Quality Commission expectations
🖥️ How is the training delivered?
This course is Tier 2.
- 📍 Tier 2 is delivered in person
- ❌ You do not need to attend Tier 1 in person

- ⏰ It must be finished before attending

The training day is 9.30am-4.30pm.
It is delivered by three trainers:

- 🧠 Learning Disability Lived Experience Co-Trainer
- 🗣️ Autism Lived Experience Co-Trainer
