About this event
Take a journey through Jayne Emerson's No Rules creative life, from failing her GCSE Art to gaining a 1st class honours degree and a place at the prestigious Central Saint Martins to study fashion.
Jayne’s career then took a wide and ranging path from selling the seeds of ideas to international fashion houses to writing 6 books and teaching Kirstie Allsopp how to needle felt on TV.
During lockdown she poured her ideas and their endless possibilities into her computer. First creating online courses, then the hashtag challenge #fabricrecipes, then creating her membership group No Rules Textile Society.
The recording is not downloadable but will be available for viewing for at least one month after registration.
Based in rural Gloucestershire, Jayne creates the seeds of ideas for both fashion and interior textiles. She loves to re-imagine and mix-up textile techniques including applique, embroidery and patchwork; selling her conceptual samples to clients ranging from Chanel and Louis Vuitton to Anthropologie and Boden.
With 30 years of experience in the industry, Jayne started organizing her ideas into word prompts and filming her experimental, creative process. Her inspirational library now includes four online courses, Experimental Needle Felting, No Rules Patchwork and Water Soluble Magic and Gel Printing on and with Textiles. Her membership No Rules Textile Society is home to 30+ mini-courses and an incredible community of textile adventurers.
Jayne champions the use of reclaimed materials wherever possible and loves sourcing vintage supplies. She’s passionate about sharing her love for textiles - encouraging play, embracing happy accidents and exploring all the exciting ‘what ifs’!
