One Creation

The Second St Marylebone Festival marks the 900th Anniversary of the Parish that is now St Marylebone and the 200th Anniversary of the present Parish Church.  It also marks the 30th Anniversary of the installation of our Rieger organ.  During a week of music and festivities we celebrate the rich cultural history of the church and the many personalities connected with it. Browse through the events below to see the important cultural figures of the parish, including the Brownings, Lord Nelson and Charles Dickens (and even Winnie the Pooh!) celebrated in a host of inventive events.There is something for everyone and those who attended last year’s Festival will recall the convivial welcoming atmosphere!

The St Marylebone Festival

This programme looks at the Marylebone of 2017 as part of this great world city of London. The performance demonstrates that we are all part of one creation and we have nothing to fear from each other; that we don’t have to do anything, it’s all already done. Artists and musicians, born into different faiths, have chosen secular or religious texts, poems and songs from their own heritage on the following 3 subjects: ‘love of the whole of nature or creation’ ‘equality, justice, freedom for all’ and‘erotic love’. There will be performances from artists of Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Hindu, Sikh backgrounds. The performance is combined with projections of the abstract paintings of Alice Sielle,  which instigated the project and visually interpret the theme.
