About this event

  • 7 hours

We know that as Doulas you will inevitably meet and work with family, friends, communities or people you support who are grieving in different ways. We also know that you may have experienced grief yourself at one time or another in your own life. When these two things intersect, it can sometimes feel daunting in all its messiness and sometimes throw you off kilter unexpectedly, because it may ‘poke’ your own feelings around the loved ones, pets and other things e.g. Relationships that you have lost in your life.

This Continuing Professional Workshop (CPD) is to help you understand grief at a deeper level, as well as your own grief journey/ies so you can stay present to anticipatory grief and grief after a death for those you support at end of life.

The day will hold time for self-reflection, space for learning more specifics about the depth and width of grief, exploring the language of grief and pinpointing how you feel about working with grief. We will also be looking at the physical, emotional and body responses to grief as well as helping you find resources within yourself which allow you to deeply listen to others as well as having an opportunity to think about tools you might need to help you work in this field.

Our aim is that you will know yourself better, be able to deeply listen and understand another’s grief and be able to sit with people when things are really difficult without wanting to fix it for them.

You will receive an extensive resource sheet to call on after the course is completed and a CPD Certificate.
