Restoration London presents Online Visible Mending sessions! Introducing you to the traditional Visible Mending technique - Darning!

Darning mendingDarning is a sewing technique, traditionally for repairing holes or worn areas in woven or knitted clothing, using needle and thread alone - repaired by hand.

Come join us for our Monthly Mending sessions, introducing you to the beautiful techniques of Visible Mending - Darning wherever you are in the world!Our workshops are inclusive and suitable for complete beginners.You will be given an introduction in to the traditional mending technique of Darning, where you can practise on knitted fabrics beforehand or perhaps darn directly on to your knitwear to fix any holes and create beautiful visible mending designs.This will be a hand sewing class, so no need to be a pro on the sewing machine! Which means you will be able to learn the techniques and continue to fix your clothing in the comfort of your own home!You will leave the workshop feeling inspired to continue fixing and rejuvenating all of your favourite pieces that need a bit of TLC or even if you just want to customise your lovely jumpers to make them a bit more exciting.

What you will need:<ul><li>A pair of scissors</li><li>A Darning needle</li><li>x4 Balls of wool (colours of your choosing)</li><li>x4 pieces of knitted fabric (at least 10cmx10cm)</li><li>A Darning Mushroom/Egg (not essential but useful)</li><li>Refreshments (this can be a cup of tea or a glass of wine!)</li></ul>Techniques you will learn:<ul><li>Swiss Darning</li><li>Duplicate Darning</li><li>Creating a shape in Darning</li><li>Check Pattern Darning</li></ul>At the end of the workshop we will also show you how to sew your knit patches on to an item of knitwear - so feel free to bring one of your much loved pieces along that needs repairing.Restoration London also sell Mending kits which have sold in the V&A Museum and The Hayward Galler, which you can use for our workshops.You can take a look at our kits on our website here &gt; <a href="https://restorationldn.com/collections/kits" title="https://restorationldn.com/collections/kits" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">MENDING KITS</a>DISCLAIMER: Please note we need a minimum of 4 attendees for the workshop to go ahead.
