About this event

  • Event lasts 45 minutes

ONS Local has been established by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to support evidence-based decision-making at the local level. We aim to host insightful events that connect our users with exciting developments happening in subnational statistics and analysis at the ONS and across other organisations.

In this webinar, we will look at Harmonisation. Firstly, what is Harmonisation? Why is it important? How can the standards benefit you?

Harmonisation is about improving the consistency, comparability and coherence of data and statistics across the UK. Harmonised standards and guidance are tools that help users harmonise their data and statistics. Harmonised standards include definitions, survey questions, and information and guidance for data users.

During this session, the Government Statistical Service Harmonisation Team will introduce you to their work, and its relevance to local authorities. Using the disability and impairment standards as a case study, they will provide an overview of the ways in which harmonised standards are developed, and provide you with opportunities to get involved!

This event is open to all; we anticipate it will be of most interest to data producers, data collectors and those using data for research or statistical purposes.
