About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 15 minutes

ONS Local has been established by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to promote evidence-based decision-making at the local level. We aim to host insightful workshops which will provide practical, technical support to help users make the most of ONS and cross government data. The Local Government Association is the national membership body for local authorities and they work on behalf of their member councils to support, promote and improve local government. Rutland County Council is a unitary council in the East Midlands. The council’s Business Intelligence team (led by Arron Gourlay, with David Wylie, Technical Development Lead) is a corporate service working towards rolling out Power BI for high-quality insight across all council directorates.

Join Arron Gourlay, Business Intelligence Service Manager and David Wylie, Technical Development Lead at Rutland County Council, to hear about the value of co-creating dashboards within local government.

Arron and David will discuss how using an agile approach to developing Power BI dashboards has delivered meaningful and data-driven benefits to Rutland County Council. They will share how they worked with service leads throughout the development of the dashboards, including requirements and expectations for training and post-release support to ensure maximum usage.

Arron and David will also share their agile development strategy, detailing the expectations on the BI team and the service for whom the dashboard is being created for during the development process. Afterwards there will be an opportunity for questions and answers.

This event is open to all; we anticipate it will be particularly relevant for those working on creating dashboards using Power BI at local authorities throughout the UK.
