About this event

ONS Local has been established by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to promote evidence-based decision-making at the local level. We aim to host insightful workshops which will provide practical, technical support to help users make the most of ONS and cross government data.

Join the Yorkshire & Humber Office for Data Analytics (YHODA) as they introduce the Yorkshire Engagement Portal (YEP) - a free, open-access data platform designed to support place-based policy and community planning across Yorkshire and the Humber region. This session will walk attendees through how YEP and its flagship toolkit of interactive dashboards, the Yorkshire Vitality Suite (YVS), is currently being developed to meet the data needs of local and combined authorities, communities, and voluntary sector organisations.

Led by Guifré Ballesté Santacana (Research Associate/Data Analyst at YHODA), the session will cover the development of YEP, from data scoping and transformation methods in R, to the construction of public-facing Power BI dashboards. Attendees will be guided through selected dashboards featuring economic, environmental, and social indicators of the regionʼs vitality and will hear about the platformʼs forecasting and future policy simulation capabilities.

This workshop is ideal for anyone involved in local policy, community planning, or curious about practical data tools for evidence-based decision-making.
