This event is for anyone interested in applying to our BSc (Hons) Marine Science or MSci Applied Marine Science programmes for 2026 intake and beyond. We also welome those coming with a potential applicant. Please book a ticket for each person who wants to join the event.

Are you ready to 'sea' the world differently and prepare for a fulfilling and exciting career enabled by a marine science degree? Then come and visit the #UniversityOnTheBeach.

Find out about our course, explore our campus, meet our students, lecturers and the support team, enjoy talks and demonstrations and talk about your career aspirations. Learn from staff and students what our programme could mean for your future and the future of our oceans. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about the programme and visitors will also have the opportunity to chat to current students about what it's really like to study marine science at SAMS and the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Please sign up now and we'll be in touch a few days before the event with more details.

Make a day or a weekend of it:

SAMS' Ocean Explorer Visitor Centre, shop and Beach Café will also be open where you can learn more about SAMS' mission to work for healthy oceans and some of the research our lecturers do. (Please note the Beach Café gets very busy at lunchtime and closes at 4pm).

Get a feel for the area to make sure you can be happy as a student at SAMS. Visit Dunstaffnage Castle next door and find a hidden ruin chapel in the woods. Take a walk around the Dunstaffnage headland and discover stunning pebble beach coves and see what marine life you can find on our rocky shores. Also go and visit Oban.

SAMS, a partner of UHI, is one of the top places in the world to study marine science. Our students have an outstanding learning experience - which you don't need to take from the marketing team but ask our students during your visit.
