</h3><h3><strong>The PROTECT project
</strong></h3><p>This talk will look at the recently completed EU funded PROTECT project which integrated face (in various ways) as part of an overall multi biometric system for border security, integrating smartphones and advanced passports into the process.

</h3><h3><strong>AI and Computer Vision
</strong></h3><p>This talk will look at a research project Embecosm has been persuing on applying facial recognition at the edge using googles EdgeTPU and Tensorflow.</p>

<h3>SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES
</h3><p><strong>James Ferryman</strong> is Professor of Computational Vision at the University of Reading, where he led the PROTECT project.  His current research is concerned with the automatic visual surveillance of wide area scenes using computational vision. The research has contributed new results in the areas of model-based vision, visual tracking and surveillance, especially using 3D deformable models.
</p><p></p><p><strong>William Jones</strong> has a research background in computational neuroscience, with a focus on artificial neural networks and machine learning techniques. He leads Embecosm’s AI team, working on applying these machine learning and AI techniques to the domains of compiler and code optimization.

</h3><p><strong>Pietra F. T. Madio</strong> is part of Embecosm’s AI team. Recently she has focused on making Artificial Intelligence accessible to teenagers, focusing on Machine Learning and Deep Learning.</p>
