'Open Source in Conversation' is a laid back, open and discussion-based talk, giving a platform for early career artists to share their work with our audience.

Our Open Source #10 artist, Jocelyn Allen will be discussing her recent and ongoing work and the importance of self portraiture in a digital space driven by instantaneous gratification.

Jocelyn's series Nice Hair Shame About Your Face uses mobile self-portraiture to explore the relationship between the body and body image. Photo and face-enhancing beauty apps have recently exploded in popularity, pushing our collective use of photography-as-therapy; the series confronts the pressure that such apps exert on people, particularly women, who maintain an online presence.

Open Source is part of our responsive programme, offering our on and offline resources for others to use. There is no theme and no limit to number of submissions, but we encourage projects that engage with themes explored in our exhibitions. The aim of the platform is to make lesser-known artists more visible.

The gallery is accessible and alcoholic and soft refreshments will be available throughout the evening.
