Merseyway Workshop

Join our brand new open studio sessions... These are weekly non-taught slots, with open access to all of our handbuilding and workbench facilities. Make what you want from clay! A﻿ relaxing, self directed studio session, perfect for those with a little experience or who have previously attended a workshop, and just simply want to crack on making something.Costs include 4kg of clay, access to our range of colourful house slips and glazes and the firing of 2 pots per person. (A choice of buff, crank or terracotta, additional clay can be purchased during the session if needed. Additional pots can also be fired, however they will be priced up on the day by our working technician.)Aprons, t﻿eas and coffees included.

Knowledge Required• Beginner - all levels welcome however these sessions are geared towards those that have some or little experience working with clay or have previously attended a course. * This workshop is for ages 16+ only.Techniques You Will ExplorePinch pots - a delicate and intricate method to create a range of forms.Coiling - using this ancient method of building you will learn to make winding and circular form.Press Moulds - experiment with press moulds using surface patterns and designs.Materials Provided• Included in the fee you will be allocated 4kg of terracotta, buff or crank clay. You will also have free access to our decorative slips and range of glazes! More clay can be purchased during the sessions.What to bring• Relaxed clothing that you don't mind getting a little messy. Bring your own apron if you have one. Transport• We are within a short walk from Stockport train and bus station. Parking is available at the Merseyway Shopping Centre NCP.Refunds and Booking Terms• Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date.
