Do I need to have experience in theatre?

Accepted Answer

No - OPT is open to everyone, including those who have never done theatre, those who are anxious about taking part, those who aren't sure if they like theatre. We aim to make our sessions as accessible and as fun as possible, with a focus adapting sessions for different needs.

Question 2

I have mobility issues. Can I still come?

Accepted Answer

We aim to make the sessions as adaptable as possible. Some sessions will be more physical than others - e.g. the Star Crossed Party Time! session will involve dance. If you have concerns or questions about this, please email us. There is lift access to the studio if we have prior warning.

Question 3

I want to come, but the cheaper spaces have all been bought already.

Accepted Answer

Please email us if cost is a barrier. We aim to be accessible for all and will endeavour to provide low cost or free spaces for people who need it - e.g. if you are on benefits, if you are a carer, if you are low waged, or if you are still in education.

Question 4

I want to come but I can't afford my bus far

Accepted Answer

We can reimburse bus fares for anyone who needs it -e.g. if you are on benefits, if you are a carer, if you are low waged, or if you are still in education. Please let us know

Question 5

I need to drive. Can I park anywhere?

Accepted Answer

You can use the Pay and Display car park under Gloucester Green Square which is opposite the Burton Taylor Studio.

Question 6

Can I just come and watch the open mic and not perform on the Friday evening?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We need audiences too. We will email all ticket purchasers in advance to see if they wish to perform, or just be in the audience. Your ticket will also include supper.

Question 7

I'd like to attend the community supper but I have dietary requirements.

Accepted Answer

We will provide a variety of food for different dietary needs, including gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. We will also ensure all food is nut free. Please email us if you have any other dietary requirements and we will see what we can do.

Question 8

I want to come but I'm worried I won't understand Shakespeare's language

Accepted Answer

We will be working with Shakespeare's text as inspiration but will adapt activities to make them accessible to everyone, even if you don't think you understand Shakespeare. Themes will be universal themes that everyone has experience of - youth, age, love, fear, celebrations, the weather.
