Are you considering conversion to an organic beef system? Are you a certified herd with some questions? Join us for this Soil Association webinar to discuss practical considerations and opportunities for building organic beef systems. The focus of this session is practical on farm application. We will be joined by:<ul><li>Angus Nelless from Thistleyhaugh Farm - An organic cattle and sheep farmer in Northumberland sharing his experiences, challenges and advice from home</li><li>Peter Jones - Director of Organic Livestock Marketing Cooperative (OLMC)</li><li>Adrian Steele - Organic Sector Development Advisor at the Soil Association</li><li>Tabitha Acton - Farming Advisor at the Soil Association</li><li>Annie Crook - Producer Certification Officer at Soil Association Certification</li></ul>Alongside Angus sharing his story, the key topics our speakers will address are How standards translate to on farm practice, Opportunities to maximise forage production, and Organic market opportunities. We encourage attendees to bring their questions to the panel through the Q&amp;A, where there will be plenty of time for discussion. Whether you're an experienced farmer or exploring new approaches, this session offers insights you can take straight back to your system. Instead of random rest, our grazing is now well-planned, and we spend a lot of time on it. Bale grazing is introduced when grass runs low (only 260 bales for 240 cows last winter). Only weaned male calves are kept indoors. By ensuring dry lying spaces, access to rocky areas during tough winter conditions, and providing proper shelter through hedges and trees, we've seen improvements in cattle health, leading to a reduction in calving assists from 2-3% to just 0-1%, and a decrease in antibiotic use."George Burrell - Farm Manager, Broome Park Farms This technical webinar is part of our Agroecology at Scale Programme, part of the ground-breaking Farm to Fork Partnership between Ocado and Soil Association which has been established to help transform the way we eat, farm and care for our natural world.
