What can our databases and documents tell about how our ancestors lived?
We all hope to find the name we're looking for, but what if it isn't there? Our collections can still have much more to tell us. Searchable and indexed records, document collections and our library of journal articles allow us to look beyond individual surnames – perhaps browsing the baptisms of a particular church, discovering marriage witnesses, or exploring records from a particular community. Sometimes you can browse a whole transcribed register almost as though you were standing in the vestry turning the pages of the original volume.
