LGBT Foundation's Pride in Ageing programme and Move Manchester invite you to special one-off dance workshop for people from LGBTQ+ communities aged over 50. The session, led by Move Manchester director Jack HIlton, will infuse conversation, poetry and contemporary dance together .

As part of this session:

  • You will digitally view Move Manchester's work 'Queeries' which highlights questions of, for and by the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Learn a short bit of dance from the work (all for fun with no pressure!).
  • Discuss the theme and have an open dialogue about the powerful experience of being LGBTQIA+ and the questions this has and does present.
  • Curate this experience (alongside Jack) into some poetry, writing or spoken word which will then influence the development of the work and ensure your voice is heard, celebrated and included.
  • Receive a free invitation for yourselves, family and friends to be in the audience for the premiere of 'Queeries' by Move Manchester at the end of May at Sale Waterside Arts Centre.

All abilities and experience including beginners and those new to dance welcome. Activities can be undertaken seated or standing and adapted for those with different levels of mobility. Those will long term conditions affecting physical mobility or over 69 and not used to undertaking regular physical activity are advised to check with their GP before participating.

Join the Pride in Ageing Programme and Move Manchester for a unique experience which will in turn provide development for LGBTQIA+ art to inspire, inform and support the LGBTQIA+ community. We hope to see you there!
