Talk #1 from James Schall - "Staying Ahead of the Game"
James is a 33 year veteran of the games industry, starting his journey here in Oxford as a Saturday salesboy in a local games retailer.
His knack of predicting trends and consumer behaviour enabled him to run a mail order import business in the 90’s, be one of Amazon’s first UK employees, eventually spending time in Seattle helping Amazon fully enter the games business.
13 years at SEGA followed where James was VP of Global Digital business operating strategies across Europe, North America and Japan as well as emerging markets.
Recently James set up Publisher Secret Mode for Sumo Group and brought that publisher fully independent in March 2025 via a MBO.
James will be discussing customer behaviour, trends and trying to stay ahead of the game.
